Manthropology Manthropology is a quirky, scientific look at a pressing modern problem: Why are males today such losers? Join author and archaeologist Peter McAllister as he draws on archaeology, anthropology and evolutionary psychology to confirm the awful truth: Every man in history, back to the dawn of the species, did everything better, faster, stronger and smarter than any man today. Deadbeat dads, two-bit terrorists, mediocre metrosexuals, sissy-boy strongmen – Peter lays them all ruthlessly bare as he debunks every masculine modern-day claim to fame. Domestic violence Submission to ACT on family violence Forgotten victims of home abuse
Submission on family violence The ACT Government has asked the Domestic Violence Prevention Council to prepare a Whole of Government Statement on Family Violence. The aim of the Statement is to articulate a clear and concise message about the Government’s position that everyone has a right to live their lives free from family violence in all its forms. Forgotten victims of home abuse Intimate partner abuse betrays the trust within relationships and can destroy families. The simple fact is that violence is never acceptable, but for decades governments and service providers have focused exclusively on protecting women and children; men however, remained the silent victims of domestic violence. According to the most recent Australian Bureau of Statistics Personal Safety Survey, a third of assaults in the home were perpetrated by women on a male victim. Family Support Working Towards the Integration of Service Delivery for Families
Working Towards the Integration of Service Delivery for Families The recent move towards integrated models of service delivery across Australia presents a unique opportunity for families and poses an exciting challenge for entire communities. It presents an opportunity to do something extraordinary where, in years to come; future Australian generations will look back on this time and view it as a turning point in the way services are delivered for families. Rural men’s health Men in the bush have a reputation for being the strong, dependable type; working hard and speaking little, not the sort to whinge if they're feeling crook. Australian Health Survey 2010 The survey provides a valuable and timely insight into the views and attitudes of Australians towards their own health, the Australian health system and the affordability of health and aged care services. A key finding is that Australians most in need of health care fear they can’t afford it. Those struggling financially and those living outside capital cities have a more negative view of the Australian health care system than the broader population, with key concerns around access and affordability. A full copy of the report is available from The Menzies Centre for Health Policy website - http://www.menzieshealthpolicy.edu.au/mn_survey/index.htm Audio of the launch event is also available in two parts: Part 1 - http://www.anu.edu.au/discoveranu/content/podcasts/attitudes_toward_health_and_ageing_part_1/ Part 2 - http://www.anu.edu.au/discoveranu/content/podcasts/attitudes_toward_health_and_ageing_part_2/
