Education Calendar 2010 Learn suicide first aid during a two day highly interactive workshop teaching practical skills to identify someone at risk of suicide and competently and confidently intervene. ASIST is Cost: $250 recommended for all caregivers aged 18 years and over. ASIST Calendar 2010 Venues are confirmed upon registration Sat & Sun 23rd & 24th January St. John of God Hospital, Murdoch Sat & Sun 13th & 14th February St. John of God Hospital, Murdoch Sat & Sun 27th & 28th March Mandurah Sat & Sun 1st & 2nd May TBA Sat & Sun 14th & 15th August Mandurah All ASIST workshops are 9am–5pm both days A half day workshop for caregivers and members of the community providing alertness to suicide issues and some basic skills in suicide first aid. SafeTALK can be organised at a time suitable for your organisation or community group. It is best used in conjunction with some organisation members being fully skilled in ASIST to provide a “whole of community” response to suicide risk. Cost: Call for a quote. A community oriented program exploring issues in suicide prevention. It is designed to play a role in mobilising participants’ resolve to work toward the creation of suicide-safer communities. SuicideTALK is suitable for almost any community audience and assumes no prior knowledge of suicide. It may also be particularly valuable in professional services where the accent has been on intervention knowledge and skills with little opportunity for workers to consider how their attitudes and beliefs about suicide affect their work. Cost: Call for a quote. A one day workshop for caregivers and members of the community concentrating on the issue of grief and loss as a result of death, suicide death or any other type of loss including loss of job, loss of child or divorce. Cost: $125 CTB Calendar 2010 Venues are confirmed upon registration Saturday 6th March All CTB workshops are 9am–5pm Moving On Minimising the personal impact of emotionally draining calls. A half day workshop for telephone workers in call centres or public contact roles, teaching them to identify calls they find stressful and difficult and what strategies they can use to deal with the their emotional responses to these calls. Cost: Call for a quote. Working Effectively Handling challenging behaviours or situations A one day workshop for workers in public contact roles responding to people who are sometimes quite distressed and may either become angry and aggressive, or talk about the possibility of suicide or homicide. The workshop covers how to manage these interactions in role appropriate effective ways, exploring appropriate role boundaries and issues related to risk assessment and the process for follow-up debriefing and support.Cost: Call for a quote.
